In brief

Comprehensive Blood Testing, at a glance

Gangnam Celliting Clinic · 121 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul · Gangnam Station Exit 12 (4-min walk)

Blood testing can show how certain body systems are working right now, such as blood counts, liver and kidney function, glucose, lipids and selected nutritional markers. It cannot measure how old your skin looks or diagnose disease from one number alone. A doctor chooses relevant tests for your situation and reads the results together with your history and symptoms.

  • Purpose Context for wellness and treatment planning
  • Test selection Chosen by the doctor, not maximal
  • Fasting Needed for some tests only
  • Availability Confirm your tests before booking
Limits first

What can blood work tell you about aging, and what can't it?

Blood work gives a snapshot of selected body functions on the day of the draw. It is a helpful piece of the picture, but it is only one piece.

Blood tests can Blood tests cannot
Body function Show markers of liver, kidney and blood health Explain every symptom by themselves
Metabolism Show glucose and lipid levels at that moment Predict how you will age
Nutrition Show selected vitamin or nutritional markers Replace a balanced diet or medical advice
Skin Add context to wellness planning Measure wrinkles, laxity or skin age
A single result outside the reference range is not a diagnosis. It is a reason to look at the whole picture with a doctor.
Marker groups

Which marker groups are usually considered in a wider blood panel?

The groups below are commonly discussed, but a panel should be chosen for a reason, based on your age, symptoms, medicines and history. More tests are not automatically better.

Blood cell counts

Red cells, white cells and platelets give a general view of blood health.

Liver and kidney function

These markers show how two key organs are handling their daily work, which also matters before some treatments.

Glucose and lipids

Blood sugar and fat levels relate to metabolic health, which is closely tied to healthy aging.

Vitamins, hormones and other markers

Selected nutritional markers, and hormones or other biomarkers when medically indicated.

Preparation and timeline

How do you prepare, and what happens from draw to results?

Preparation depends on the tests chosen, so the first step is always to confirm which tests you need and whether they are available. Gangnam Celliting Clinic focuses mainly on aesthetic, anti-aging and regenerative care, so please check current laboratory services with the team before you book.

  1. Agree the purpose The doctor reviews your history, medicines, symptoms and any previous results, then selects relevant tests.
  2. Follow preparation instructions Some tests need fasting and others do not. Follow the instructions given for your specific panel.
  3. Blood draw It takes only a few minutes. Mild tenderness or a small bruise at the site may appear.
  4. Laboratory processing Turnaround depends on the tests, so ask when results are expected and plan your stay around it.
  5. Results review The doctor explains results against reference ranges, your symptoms and your history. Ask for a copy of the report to keep.

Using the results

How might results guide IV therapy or lifestyle choices?

Results can help a doctor decide whether a treatment is a sensible choice and how cautious to be. For example, wellness IV therapy is planned with your general health in mind, and blood markers can be part of that check. Read more about IV drip therapy and our anti-aging health check.

  • Results within range may support going ahead with a planned treatment
  • Results outside range may lead to further tests or advice to see a specialist
  • Lifestyle advice on sleep, diet, activity and sun protection is often the most useful outcome
  • Results help compare future tests at home

FAQ

Comprehensive Blood Testing: your questions, answered

Reviewed by Dr. Ho-chan Kim, MD, PhD · Updated October 2026

Can a blood test measure my biological age?

No single routine blood test gives a reliable biological age. Blood markers show how certain systems are working, which is useful context for healthy aging. They do not measure skin aging, and any score claiming to show your exact biological age should be read with caution.

Is a bigger blood panel always better?

No. Testing without a clear reason can produce borderline results that cause worry or lead to unnecessary extra tests. A doctor selects tests that answer a real question about your health or treatment, which is usually more useful than the largest panel available.

Do I have to fast before blood is drawn?

Only for some tests. Glucose and lipid tests often need fasting, while many others do not. Follow the specific instructions you are given, keep taking prescribed medicines unless told otherwise, and drink water unless advised not to.

Can I take my lab report home with me?

Yes, asking for a copy of your laboratory report is recommended. It lets your own doctor see the results and compare them with future tests. Note that reference ranges and units may differ from those used in your home country.

What happens if a result is abnormal?

The doctor explains what the result may mean and whether repeat testing or a specialist visit is advisable. An aesthetic clinic does not manage general medical conditions, so you may be referred onward. Planned treatments may be postponed if a result raises a safety concern.
