Exosome Treatments, at a glance

Gangnam Celliting Clinic · 121 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul · Gangnam Station Exit 12 (4-min walk)

Exosome treatments apply exosomes, tiny vesicles released by cells that carry signalling molecules, to the skin as part of regenerative skin care. They contain no living cells. At Gangnam Celliting Clinic they may be considered for dullness, dryness, uneven texture or skin recovering from other procedures. The delivery method, number of sessions and suitability are decided by the doctor at consultation.

  • Contains living cells? No — cell-derived vesicles only
  • Main goals Texture, glow, hydration, recovery support
  • Delivery Chosen by doctor at consultation
  • Sessions Set after skin assessment
The basics

What exactly are exosomes, and why are they used on skin?

Exosomes are microscopic sacs, called extracellular vesicles, that cells release to pass messages to other cells. Each one carries a cargo of proteins, lipids and genetic signals. Researchers are studying how these signals may influence skin repair and renewal, which is why exosome-based products have entered aesthetic medicine.

One point surprises many patients: an exosome is not a cell. It cannot divide or grow. Exosome care is therefore different from treatments that use your own living cells, and it is best understood as a way to deliver signalling material to skin that needs support.

Exosome products differ in source, formulation and delivery method, so always ask exactly which product and technique your doctor recommends.

Exosomes vs stem cells vs PRP vs skin boosters

These four are different treatment concepts, even though they are often mentioned together. The table gives a simple overview; the right choice depends on your skin and your doctor's assessment.

What it is Living cells? Usually considered for
Exosomes Cell-derived vesicles carrying signals No Texture, dullness, recovery support
Stem cell (Celliting) Your own blood-derived cells, minimally manipulated Yes, autologous Deeper regenerative plans
PRP Platelet-rich plasma from your own blood Platelets, not stem cells Skin quality, scalp
Skin booster Injected hydrating or nourishing material No Hydration, fine texture

"Skin booster" is a Korean clinic term for fine injections placed across the face to improve hydration and skin quality. If you are weighing cell-based care, our stem cell treatment guide explains Celliting's autologous programs.

Which Celliting exosome option matches your goal?

Each of our exosome pages focuses on one question, so you can go straight to what matters to you.

A refreshed, hydrated face

Read about the exosome facial: what happens in the room, and how skin looks that evening.

Texture, pores and mild scarring

Exosome microneedling pairs tiny skin channels with exosome application; recovery is a few days of redness for most people.

Calming skin after laser or lifting

Exosome skin regeneration focuses on barrier recovery and sensitive, redness-prone skin.

A long-term anti-aging plan

Learn how exosomes sit alongside lifting devices and stem cell care over months and years.

Unsure which applies? The doctor can combine or sequence options during one visit when that is medically sensible.

Honest expectations

What exosome care can and cannot do

Exosome care can support skin quality, but it does not lift sagging tissue or replace lost volume. Changes in texture and glow are usually described as gradual rather than instant.

  • Can: support a smoother, more hydrated-looking surface
  • Can: be added to procedures to support recovery, for suitable patients
  • Cannot: tighten loose jowls the way Ultherapy or Thermage FLX may
  • Cannot: guarantee a specific result; response varies by person

For sagging, the doctor may discuss lifting devices first and use exosomes as a supporting step.

Is it right for you?

Could exosome care suit your skin?

Often a good fit

  • You notice dullness, dryness or rough texture
  • You want skin support with little or no downtime
  • You are planning laser or lifting and want recovery support
  • You prefer a treatment without living cells

Talk to your doctor first

  • Active skin infection, eczema flare or open wounds
  • Known allergies to skincare ingredients
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Recent filler, peel or laser in the same area

Suitability is a medical decision made by your doctor after an in-person consultation and review of your health history.

FAQ

Exosome Treatments: your questions, answered

Reviewed by Dr. Ho-chan Kim, MD, PhD · Updated October 2026

Do exosome treatments contain stem cells?

No. Exosomes are vesicles released by cells, not cells themselves, so they cannot grow or divide. This is the main difference from Celliting's stem cell programs, which use your own blood-derived cells. Your doctor can explain which concept suits your goal better.

Which exosome treatment should I choose first?

It depends on your main concern. For overall glow and hydration, a facial is a common starting point. For texture, pores or mild scarring, microneedling-based delivery may be discussed. For recovery after laser or lifting, a regeneration-focused session may fit. The doctor confirms the choice after examining your skin.

Can exosomes replace a lifting treatment?

No. Exosomes may support skin quality, but they do not tighten or lift sagging tissue. If loose skin is your concern, lifting devices such as Ultherapy or Thermage FLX may be considered, with exosomes used alongside them for suitable patients.

How many exosome sessions do people usually need?

There is no fixed number for everyone. The schedule depends on the delivery method, your skin condition and your goals. Some patients have a single session during a trip; others plan a short series. Your doctor sets a realistic plan after assessment.

Is exosome care the same as PRP?

No. PRP is made from your own blood, concentrating platelets and their growth factors. Exosome products are prepared differently and contain vesicles rather than platelets. Both are regenerative concepts, but they are not interchangeable, so ask which one is being recommended and why.
