Anti-Aging Treatments for Your 60s, at a glance

Gangnam Celliting Clinic · 121 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul · Gangnam Station Exit 12 (4-min walk)

For most people over 60, the most suitable anti-aging plan is a gentle one: moderate RF lifting for firmness, regenerative boosters for thin skin, and careful volume support where hollowing shows. The doctor first reviews your medications, especially blood thinners, and your skin's fragility. The goal is skin that looks rested and healthy, with recovery that fits an older traveller's pace.

  • Main goal Healthier, fresher skin, not drastic change
  • Health review Medications and conditions checked first
  • Listed recovery Mostly same day; Rejuran about 2 days
  • Aftercare Free 3-month follow-up after you return
Realistic goals

What can anti-aging treatment realistically do after 60?

After 60, non-surgical treatment can make skin look firmer, smoother and better hydrated, but it cannot rebuild the face of a 40-year-old. Several changes usually happen together at this age: collagen loss, thinner and drier skin, flattening of the cheeks, a softer jawline and deeper lines around the mouth and eyes. Treating one wrinkle in isolation rarely helps much.

Firmness

Radiofrequency (RF) devices such as Thermage FLX, Oligio and XERF (monopolar RF systems; XERF uses more than one frequency) heat the deeper skin to encourage collagen contraction and renewal, for a gradual tightening.

Skin quality

Regenerative boosters such as Rejuran aim to support thin, dry skin and improve texture, elasticity and fine lines.

Lost support

Where hollow cheeks or temples make the face look tired, Sculptra (a collagen stimulator) may restore fullness slowly over months.

For many people in their 60s the goal is simply to look well, not 'done'. That is a sensible target, and it shapes every recommendation: fewer, well-chosen treatments, moderate settings and enough time between sessions for the skin to respond.

Safety first

Why your medications and health history come first

Your health history decides which treatments are safe, so the doctor reviews it before any device or injection is discussed. Older patients are more likely to take daily medicines, and some of them change how the skin bruises or heals.

  • Blood thinners and anti-platelet drugs (for example warfarin, newer anticoagulants, or daily aspirin) can increase bruising after injections and boosters.
  • Some supplements, such as fish oil or vitamin E, may have a similar effect.
  • Diabetes, heart conditions, a pacemaker or other implanted devices, and skin conditions can affect which energy-based device is appropriate.
  • Thin, fragile skin may need lower energy and gentler technique.
Never stop a prescribed medication for a cosmetic treatment unless the doctor who prescribed it agrees.

Bring a written list of your medicines, ideally with their generic names, and any recent test results. Our directors, Dr. Ho-chan Kim and Dr. Young-mi Rhee, personally review this at your consultation and adjust the plan rather than asking you to change your medication.

Options compared

Gentle options doctors often choose for skin over 60

The options below are the ones most often discussed for patients in their 60s at Gangnam Celliting Clinic, with the recovery the clinic lists for each. Individual reactions such as redness, swelling or bruising can still occur.

Treatment Main aim Listed recovery
Thermage FLX (RF) Firmness and contour Same day
Oligio (RF) Elasticity, jawline, wrinkles Same day
XERF (multi-frequency RF) Elasticity, pores, definition Same day
Regenerative skin booster Thin skin, texture, tone Same day
Rejuran (PN booster) Regeneration, fine lines About 2 days
Sculptra (PLLA) Gradual volume and thickness Same day

Many patients start with one firming treatment and one skin-quality treatment. If thin skin is your biggest worry, see our guide to thin aging skin; for detail on the RF option most people ask about, read about Thermage FLX.

Travel and recovery

How to plan recovery as an older traveller

Plan recovery around a gentle travel pace: arrive rested, keep a quiet day after injections, and leave a buffer before your flight home.

  1. Arrive a day early Long flights can leave you dehydrated and tired, so a rest day before treatment helps the skin and your comfort.
  2. Keep the first evening free Even with same-day recovery, mild redness or swelling is easier to manage at your hotel than at dinner.
  3. Expect bruising if you take blood thinners Bruises from injections can last longer in older or medicated skin; plan photographs and events accordingly.
  4. Leave a buffer before flying A day or two between injectable boosters and a long-haul flight gives time for a check if anything feels unusual.

FAQ

Anti-Aging Treatments for Your 60s: your questions, answered

Reviewed by Dr. Ho-chan Kim, MD, PhD · Updated October 2026

Am I too old for non-surgical anti-aging treatment at 65 or 70?

No, age alone does not rule you out. What matters is your general health, your medications and the condition of your skin. Many people in their 60s and 70s are suitable for moderate RF lifting or regenerative boosters, with settings adjusted for thinner skin. The doctor decides suitability after examining you.

Do I need to stop my blood thinner before treatment?

Usually not, and you should never stop it on your own. Blood thinners mainly increase bruising after injections. The doctor can choose treatments with lower bruising risk or adjust the technique. Any change to your medication must be agreed with the doctor who prescribed it, not the aesthetic clinic.

Will treatment make me look unnatural?

It should not when it is planned conservatively. The aim in this age group is skin that looks healthier and firmer while keeping your own expression. The clinic avoids unnecessary procedures and builds results gradually, which also lets you decide whether you want more.

Which treatment helps most with thin, crepey skin?

Regenerative boosters such as Rejuran are often considered first, because they aim to support the skin itself rather than tighten it. Sculptra may be added where skin thickness and volume have both declined. The right choice depends on how thin the skin is and where.

How soon can I fly home after treatment?

Many treatments here are listed with same-day recovery, so short flights are often possible the next day. After injectable boosters, especially if you bruise easily, a buffer of one to two days before a long-haul flight is sensible. The doctor will advise based on what you had done.
